Weckman’s customer is listened to attentively

– We trust Weckman and, of course, want to be worthy of that trust. We believe that KINGI® fits excellently into our high-quality product families. The main reason for adding the KINGI® roofing screw as an alternative to our product range is the interest in the KINGI® roofing screw that has come from professional builders. We listen closely to our customers and respond quickly to their needs, says Timo Nurminen, Regional Sales Manager at Weckman.

Timo is a long-standing Weckman employee. This summer marks 30 years.
– In this job, you are somewhat in a vantage point. It is interesting to see how the construction industry operates, how the mechanisms of trade work, and how methods and products in the construction sector develop. The owners have always given us an appropriate amount of responsibility, and the work is interesting because there is a lot of freedom to do things in your own way and the job description is broad, Timo praises.

Weckman Steel Oy, more familiarly Weckman, is the largest Finnish-owned company manufacturing roofing sheets and products. The group also includes Levypyörä Oy in Nastola and Esco AS in Estonia. The group’s turnover is approximately 46 million euros and it employs around 300 people. In addition, Weckman is a shareholder in Orima Oy in Orimattila, which manufactures roof safety products and rainwater systems, as well as in JHW-Profiles GMBH, which manufactures profile sheets in Germany.
– Weckman is a traditional family business where steel and iron have been forged for 8 generations. The company’s main location is in Vierumäki, where the headquarters and 30,000 square metres of factory space are located. The company has operated as a limited company since 1962, serving professional customers in trade and construction and, together with them, the entire consumer sector. Weckman has Finland’s widest range of steel roofing products, around 250 alternatives. For example, there are five alternatives of tile-patterned profiles, some available in two different steel thicknesses. Two-thirds of the turnover comes from roofing sheets and the rest from tractor trailers and steel-framed sheet-metal halls. The leading export markets are the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries and Russia, Timo says.

The KINGI® roofing screw is initially sold on the Finnish market, but there has already been talk of exports to the German market as well.
– KINGI® could be a worthwhile alternative for the German quality mentality, Timo envisions.

Quality and durability are therefore very important to Weckman. Although products are made for different price categories, the company nevertheless wants to make quality products in all categories. While many companies consciously set out to weaken quality in order to make the price as low as possible, Weckman has not taken that path. And will not.
– We see that quality speaks specifically to the developer, or the end consumer. Questions related to quality and durability are easily left to trouble the mind, and consumers do not want to be uncertain about the durability of the products they have chosen. Here in Finland, the temperature variation on a roof surface can be more than one hundred degrees over the course of a year, so building materials are subjected to severe stress simply because of the temperatures, Timo says.

In addition to temperature variation, building products are worn by air pollution, rain and moisture, as well as solar radiation.
– In life-cycle thinking, all components of the whole must be of consistently high quality. A harsh climate requires durable building products, of which KINGI® is a good example, Timo says about building products suitable for climatic stress.

Although the suitability of building products for the climate at the construction site is important, according to Timo, professionals are most interested in the usability of the building product:
– Among professionals, Kingi’s installability is an important selling point. It is the number one thing when you can promise the installer and entrepreneur that with the KINGI® roofing screw, which drills in faster than a standard screw, you save time and money.
