The saviour of Finnish roofs
Over 10,000 roof renovations. The CEO of Ne knows them well, as he has spent the last 22 years on Finnish roofs. During this time, he has also built a company that almost everyone knows. Hämeen Laaturemontti’s slogans “Roof renovation in two days” and “There’s a hole in the roof, and no” have spoken to Finns and made the company well known. Although Kimmo Riihimäki is the CEO of a successful company, he still spends a lot of time on the roof.
– I also want to be involved in building roofs and showing new workers how things are done here, says Kimmo.
Hämeen Laaturemontti has radically changed the entire industry. The company brought a crane to worksites, which has shortened roof renovations to as little as two days. At the same time, occupational safety and customer satisfaction have improved. Now all efficiently operating roof renovation companies use a crane.
– There is really tough competition in this field, and you can only succeed by constantly developing smarter solutions and more sensible ways of working, says Kimmo Riihimäki.
Fast and clean installation
When we talk about large volumes, development sometimes concerns very small things that have a major impact. A good example is the roofing screw.
– Everyone in this field knows that roofing screws have been absolutely awful, says Kimmo.
Hämeen Laaturemontti has been involved in developing KINGI® roofing screws and was the first roofing company to start using KINGI® roofing screws as soon as they came onto the market.
– We have had really good experiences with Kingi. The KINGI® roofing screw is much faster to install than the screws we used previously. You can drill it into the right spot in the sheet metal even from a slightly worse position. The KINGI® roofing screw does not slip or scratch the surface of the sheet metal. When we carry out approximately 3,300 roof renovations a year, the drillability of the roofing screw has a major effect on the time spent on installation, says Kimmo.
Best drillability saves even over 600 working days a year
Kimmo Riihimäki knows what he is talking about. If we calculate that the 3,300 roofs being renovated are 200 m2 in size and that 10 roofing screws are used per square metre, drilling in KINGI® roofing screws takes 133 working days. If the least drillable screw on the market is used, the number of working days is 749. With the weakest screw, Hämeen Laaturemontti would therefore spend 616 more working days fastening the screws. Not to mention how much time would be spent repairing installation scratches caused by poorly drillable screws.
– KINGI® does not scratch the surface of the roofing sheet, so the installation work is faster in that respect as well, Kimmo says based on his own experience.
The roofing screw closes the deal
The regulation-compliant KINGI® roofing screw has convinced roof renovation customers.
– We use the best roofing sheet on the market, from which we profile the roofing sheets best suited to the Finnish style. We have always provided a warranty for the work and the roofing sheet, but there has not been a proper roofing screw on the market, nor a single roofing screw with a warranty. Now our warranty covers the entire roof, because with the KINGI® roofing screw we dare say that it will last as long as the roofing sheet, Kimmo says with satisfaction.
The KINGI® roofing screw also differs from other screws in that its durability is covered by a long warranty. The KINGI® roofing screw has a 20-year appearance and rust-resistance warranty, a 30-year leak-proof warranty and a 50-year warranty against perforation by rust.
– Our salespeople have also given good feedback on Kingi. They have succeeded in turning it into a sales advantage. One of our salespeople said that he has not lost a single deal since we started using the KINGI® roofing screw, says Kimmo.
