Installers at Hämeen Laaturemontti: KINGI® does not slip

Samuel Nissilä, Joel Nissilä and Terho Hirvasniemi sit at breakfast porridge around the long table of Hämeen Laaturemontti in Kempele. The young men are preparing for the day’s work. One sheet metal roof is underway just over a hundred kilometres to the north, another almost the same distance to the south.

These installers have been among the first to use the KINGI® roofing screw in real work. They already have a development suggestion in mind.
– The screw boxes could perhaps be made of plastic so that they would last better. If it is wet or raining, the cardboard box gets soaked and the screws come through the bottom, Terho wishes.

The installers praise the drilling performance of the KINGI® roofing screw itself.
– Good screw, Samuel says.
– KINGI® is better to screw in than the previous screw. You can reach it to the right place from farther away without it slipping, Joel explains.
– KINGI® drills well through the sheet metal and is more precise. The previous screw was blunter, it had to be pressed harder and it could still slip from the surface of the sheet metal, Terho says.
– It is certainly annoying when the screw slips. Especially if you are positioning the sheet metal in a difficult place, start screwing and then the screw slips. Usually the sheet metal moves out of place and, with bad luck, falls all the way to the ground, Joel describes the troubles caused by a slipping screw.

The unusually high pan head is also appreciated by the installers.
– A low screw head can slip out of the mounting socket, causing the cordless drill to hit the surface of the sheet metal. The head of the KINGI® roofing screw is higher, so it stays firmly in the mounting socket, Joel explains.
All dents and scratches are a nuisance for the roofers; they have to be repaired separately or the sheet metal replaced with a new one, which takes valuable working time.
– Drill screws used to be used for fastening ridge, eave and gable trims. Their blunt tip slips easily and causes scratches on the roof, which absolutely have to be touch-up painted, Samuel explains.
– KINGI® does not slip, the installers sum up unanimously.

The tighter thread of the KINGI® roofing screw has clear advantages in the installers’ opinion.
– If you screw two sheets of metal together, KINGI® holds them more tightly together, Terho explains, and continues:
– Kingi also does not strip easily; the previous roofing screws stripped more easily in the final stage of fastening.
If a roofing screw strips at the end, meaning it spins freely, it is not firmly attached to the batten, the installers know. In that case, stronger winds or changes in temperature lift the screw from its base and the fastening point no longer remains watertight.

The next moment, the empty porridge bowls flash into the dishwasher and the installers head to the worksites. The local boys are in a hurry to repair roofs.
